Moe’s Alley and The Crepe Place present: SEIZED UP – Record Release w/ Western Addiction, Enemy of My Enemy and The Gutz!

Moes Alley and The Crepe Place present SEIZED UP! After a year, the band can finally have their record release show that includes Fat Wreck Chords recording artists, Western Addiction, and local punk staples Enemy of My Enemy and The Gutz!SEIZED UPSeized Up was formed in Santa Cruz, California in early 2019 with Blast singer Clifford Dinsmore, Fast Asleep guitarist Danny B., Good Riddance bassist Chuck Platt and The Distillers/Nerve Agents drummer Andy Granelli. The idea to form the band came after Fast Asleep (Buzzard / Platt / Granelli / Deep Six Records) had stopped playing and Dinsmore was eager to start something new with the guys, knowing it would be a great mix. A flash back of what all members are into, and thats driving hardcore punk. Seized Up worked with Paul Miner at Buzzbomb Recording to recorded 11 songs for their first full length release. The group made its live debut in Santa Cruz in December of 2019 and this left people wanting more.Western AddictionSince forming in 2003, Western Addiction has defied easy categorization, and new album Frail Bray (recorded with Jack Shirley) finds the band slipping further beyond the confines of hardcore. Frail Bray remains as dark and aggressive as its predecessors, but listen closely, and hope sneaks in. The point of view isnt the only thing thats different. Western Addictions attack has grown more nuanced, and Frail Brays 11 tracks show the band crafting songs that comfortably draw from a wide swath of rock n roll while retaining punks ferocity.Enemy of My EnemyHigh-energy punk and rock n roll band from Santa Cruz, CA. Pretty much as simple as that. Catchy music that blends some of the speed and grit of punk rock with the power of rock n roll. Featuring members of Fury 66, Dead Set, Six Steps to Hell, Hate Brigade, Culo a Boca, and Vultures at Arms Reach. The GutzThe Gutz are a 3-piece melodic hardcore punk rock band, formed in 2012 in Santa Cruz, Ca. With multifaceted song arrangements, The Gutz create an eclectic variety of songs inspired by bands such as The Clash as well as hardcore pioneers Bad Brains, accompanied with dark tones reminiscent of bands like early TSOL, coupled with the traditional punk rock elements of bands like Swingin Utters & Cock Sparrer.

(((folkYEAH!))) presents Cass McCombs Band w/ special guest Farmer Dave & The Wizards of the West

(((folkYEAH!))) presents Cass McCombs with special guest Farmer Dave & The Wizards of the WestCass McCombsOver the past decade, Cass McCombs has established himself as one of our premier songwriters. Its a career that has twisted and turned, from style to subject, both between records and within them. Diverse, cryptic, vital and refreshingly rebellious just when you think you have him pinned down, you find youre on the wrong track. However, Mangy Love, his Anti Records debut, is McCombs at his most blunt: tackling sociopolitical issues through his uniquely cracked lens of lyrical wit and singular insight.McCombs uses himself as a mirror to misguided and confounding realities, confronting them head-on: Rancid Girl reads like a ZZ Top study in Kardashian politics, Run Sister Run a mantra for a misogynistic justice system, Bum Bum Bum displays a racist, elitist government through the allegory of sadistic dog breeding; the album is sewn together by a common thread of opposition, most directly articulated in Opposite House, with allusions to mental illness. Laughter Is The Best Medicine provides a possible recipe for healing, with the help of an authentic medicine man, the legendary Rev. Goat Carson. The severity of his lyrics is contrasted by the music, which ventures into groovy realms of Philly soul, Norcal psychedelia and New York paranoia punk, articulating the spontaneity and joy of his live show better than ever before. The record is unquestionably a work of great studio aptitude: a carefully arranged, high-fidelity production by veteran Rob Schnapf and Dan Horne. And as usual, McCombs is joined by many notable members of his eclectic musical tribe, whose names are proudly displayed on the back cover.Mostly written during a bitter New York City winter and while travelling in Ireland, Mangy Love is Cass at the top of his game, reaching new sonic heights, creatively evolving lyrically, and resulting in his most provocative and complete record yet.

(((folkYEAH!))) presents La Luz w/special guest Tropa Magica!

(((folkYEAH!))) presents La Luz and Tropa Magica! About La LuzCalifornia band La Luz are experts at making earworms out of sonic contradictions. The music of Shana Cleveland (guitar, vocals), Alice Sandahl (keys, vocals), and Lena Simon (bass, vocals) is, at times, both atmospheric and driving, golden-hued yet weirdly morbid.Their songs interpolate everything from surf rock legends Dick Dale, Link Wray, and Takeshi Teracuchi to the airtight harmonies of the Ronettes and the funhouse organ crescendos of the B-52s. When combined, these influences evoke the sight of a vast and glorious UFO overhead, as the beguiling music of La Luz pulls you in like a tractor beam.La Luz have released three full-length records (2013s Its Alive, 2015s Weirdo Shrine, 2018s Floating Features) and 2012s Damp Face EP.About Tropa MagicaAfter receiving their blessing from Los Tigres Del Norte, East L.A. badasses Thee Commons metamorphosed into new stage outfit Tropa Magica. Still consisting of the chunster Pacheco brothers and their signature psychedelic cumbia fusion, Tropa Magica boasts a troop of new magical sounds, now having added a second guitar and organ keys to their repertoire. Tropa Magica will make their grand debut but welcomed return to Downtown L.A. in March. From there, with most of the year ahead of them, and given their successful track record, the tropical skys the limit.
