Carsie Blanton writes anthems for a world worth saving. Inspired by artists including Nina Simone and Randy Newman, her songs encompass a wide range of genres, from sultry pop to punk-tinged Americana. Whether alone with her electric guitar or fronting her four-piece “handsome band,” Carsie delivers every song with an equal dose of moxie and mischief, bringing her audience together in joyful celebration of everything worth fighting for.
Adron
A new and ultraviolet feather in LA’s cap, Adron is making waves with her timeless yet wholly unusual musical oeuvre. Raised in and recently transplanted from Atlanta, she’s a singer/songwriter entirely too rare to stay rooted in the American South; there’s very little of conventional America at all in this music. Her kaleidoscopic guitar work carries the influence of Brazilian eminences like Luiz Bonfá and Caetano Veloso, while her voice has the classic clarity and richness of Doris Day with the adventurousness of Joni Mitchell. She’s also a champion whistler, incorporating not just melody but even birdcalls into her productions, layered into a sonic backdrop evoking lush climes and opiate breezes. There’s no aggression in Adron’s world, no politics, no posturing - only space, sensation and sentiment.
Since the release of Water Music in 2017, a surprise tour opening for Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, and her subsequent move to Los Angeles, Adron has teamed up with co-producer and engineer John Hendicott in recording a new full-length LP to be called The Trickster, conceptually centered around psychedelics, love, loss, and the capriciousness of life’s journeys. Since the COVID-19 lockdown, Adron has also teased a new, self-produced EP called Peru, recorded almost entirely in Adron’s bedroom (with drums and percussion coming from her long-time collaborator Colin Agnew in Atlanta). Early releases from both projects are popping up in Adron’s Patreon (patreon.com/adron), including a cover of Robert Wyatt’s “Alliance,” and a glimpse into a darker, more brooding corner of her mind. The Trickster and the Peru EP are expected in 2021, with Adron performing virtual livestream concerts on her social media platforms supporting the new material during these ongoing seasons of socially-distant music appreciation.
